Four Male Student-Athletes Earn MIAA Athlete of the Week Accolades

Four male Hope College student-athletes have been chosen as MIAA Athletes of the Week: junior Ned Curley in men's tennis, senior Justin Romero in men's diving, junior Dylan Terpstra in men's indoor track and field, and sophomore Orion Yant in men's basketball.

Curley (Plymouth, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) is the MIAA Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career.

The business major delivered two critical points for the Flying Dutchmen during a 4-3 victory on Friday at Ohio Northern University, winning at No. 2 singles and No. 3 doubles.

Romero (Detroit, Michigan / Woodhaven) is the MIAA Men's Diving Athlete of the Week for the first time this season and the third time in his career.

The biology and business major took first place on the 1-meter board on Friday against Calvin University by recording a six-dive total of 251.17 points. Romero was third on the 3-meter with 217.42 points.

Terpstra (Hudsonville, Michigan / Hudsonville) is the MIAA Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this season and in his career.

The communication major clocked the fastest 200-meter time at Trine University's Mrs. G Invitational on Friday at 21.61 seconds, a personal best that also ranks first among MIAA runners. Terpstra also posted a personal-best, 60-meter sprint of 6.92 seconds and a 49.1 100-yard split on the winning 4x400 relay.

Yant (Zeeland, Michigan / Zeeland West) is the MIAA Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career.

The 6-6 center averaged 20.5 points per game during victories against Kalamazoo College and Alma College while shooting 85% from the field (17-20). Yant, who scored a career-high 24 points against Kalamazoo, also contributed 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 1.0 steals over two games.
