Jackson Vasquez claimed MIAA Athlete of the Week accolades after leading the Hope College men's lacrosse team to two nonleague victories last week.
Heethuis, a Hudsonville, Michigan, native, is the MIAA Men's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week and the fourth time in his career.
Vasquez, from Lake Orion, Michigan, is the MIAA Men's Lacrosse Specialist of the Week for the first time.
Heethuis (Hudsonville HS) recorded eight assists and four goals over two games for the Flying Dutchmen: a 13-2 home victory vs. Illinois Tech on Wednesday and a 12-11 overtime victory at Elmhurst University on Saturday. The junior scored the game-winner against Elmhurst and totaled eight ground balls and one turnover on the week.
Vasquez (Lake Orion HS) collected five ground balls, three goals and three caused turnovers against Illinois Tech and Elmhurst while excelling defensively and on faceoff wings. The freshman recorded a hat trick against Elmhurst.
