Freshman Jaidyn Klimp Breaks 20-Year-Old Women's Heptathlon School Record

Freshman Jaidyn Klimp broke a 20-year-old Hope College women's track and field pentathlon record on Saturday in Troy, Alabama.

Klimp, of Galesburg, Mich. (Galesburg Augusta), recorded a fourth-place total of 4,826 points at the Troy University Invitational, topping Lindsay Lange's 2006 record of 4,790 points.

Rebecca Parker of the Windsor Legion Track and Field Club topped a field of 12 with 5,775 points. Klimp posted the second-best collegiate performance, trailing only Calli Stokes of NCAA Division I South Alabama.

During the meet, Klimp set three personal bests and finished third in two events.

In the shot put, Klimp heaved a personal-best, third-place toss of 11.36 meters (37 feet, 3 ¼ inches). In the 110-meter hurdles, Klimp raced a personal-best and fourth-place run of 15.21 seconds. In the long jump, Klimp leapt a personal-best and fifth-place 5.33m (17-8).

Klimp also ran a third-place 25.67 seconds in the 200 meters.

Duing the indoor season, Klimp set Hope's indoor pentathlon record.

The Flying Dutch also recorded a personal best in the 400m hurdles from freshman Savana Monville at 1:00.24.

Hope's next meet is the University of Wisconsin-Platteville 5K Invitational on Friday, April 10, at 4:30 p.m. Central.
