Women's Lacrosse MIAA-Record Winning Streak Snapped by Kalamazoo

Hope College's MIAA-record, regular-season winning streak in women's lacrosse ended at 26 games on Tuesday with a 12-10 loss to Kalamazoo College at Van Andel Stadium.

The Hornets scored the game's final four goals over the final 5 ½ minutes, completing a comeback from a 5-1, first-half deficit.

Tessa Fuller scored the game-winner with 3:02 remaining 1 ½ minutes after Kalamazoo tied the score for the first time since the opening draw control. The Flying Dutch jumped to a 5-1 lead 19 seconds into the second quarter.

Hope (8-2, 2-1 MIAA) slipped into a five-way tie for second place in the MIAA standings — one-half game behind Adrian College.

Senior attacker Julia Brown of Grand Rapids, Mich. (Forest Hills Central), and freshman midfielder Lucy Harrell of Poland, Ohio (Poland Seminary), scored three goals apiece for the Flying Dutch.

Kalamazoo (6-7, 2-1 MIAA) received 12 saves from goalie Kaitlyn Grice. The Hornets won seven-of-eight draw controls during the fourth quarter.

Hope goalie Samantha Smith of Westfield, Ind. (Westfield), finished with eight saves.

The Flying Dutch will try to rebound on Saturday, April 11, at 1 p.m. at Saint Mary's College.
