Men's Track and Field Qualify Five for NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships

The Hope College men's track and field team will compete in the 400-meter hurdles and the 4x100-meter relay at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships this week in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

The three-day event begins Thursday, May 21, at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Sophomore Kairo Barifagok of Las Vegas, Nev. (Cristo Rey St. Viator), will race in the 400-meter hurdles.

Barifagok will run in the 400-meter hurdle preliminaries on Thursday at 5:25 p.m. Central time. He clocked the third-fastest qualifying time of the season at 51.70 seconds. He trails only University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire sophomore Blake Postier (50.85) and Rowan University sophomore Angel Gonzalez (51.52).

The top eight finishers qualify for the 400-meter hurdle finals, which will be held Saturday, May 23, at 3:23 p.m. Central time.

The Flying Dutchmen's 4x100-meter relay features senior Nolan Sanders of Midland, Mich. (H.H. Dow); junior Dylan Terpstra of Hudsonville, Mich. (Hudsonville); freshman Maurice Streeter of Kalamazoo, Mich. (Kalamazoo Central); and freshman Luke Bellino of Brighton, Mich. (Brighton).

The 4x100-meter relay will race in the preliminaries on Friday, May 22, at 3:10 p.m. Central time. The finals are scheduled for Saturday at 1:05 p.m. Central time.

Hope recorded the seventh-fastest qualifying time in the nation at 40.70 seconds. The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh holds the top qualifying spot at 39.79 seconds.
