Thirteen Chosen for USTFCCCA Men's Outdoor Track and Field All-Region Team

Thirteen student-athletes from the Hope College men's track and field team earned All-Great Lakes Region accolades from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The top-8 individuals in each event from each region are honored. The regions used for this award match those used during the cross country season: Great Lakes, Metro, Mid-Atlantic, Mideast, Midwest, Niagara, North, Northeast, South, and West.

Seniors Carston Cole, Erickson Kunzler, Nolan Sanders, and John Wenderski represent Hope along with juniors Dylan Terpstra, sophomores Kairo Barifagok and Elias Kretchmar, and freshmen Luke Bellino, Elijah Forbord, Aiden Moore, Lincoln Phillips, and Maurice Streeter.

Barifagok (Las Vegas, Nevada / Cristo Rey St. Viator) earned all-region accolades in the 400-meter hurdles and the 4x400 relay. He ranked fastest in the Great Lakes Region in the 400 hurdles.

Bellino (Brighton, Michigan / Brighton) also claimed two all-region honors: 4x100 and 4x400 relays. The 4x100 relay ranked fastest in the Great Lakes Region.

Cole, an exercise science major from Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa), and Forbord, a biochemistry and molecular biology student from Howell, Michigan (Brighton), both received all-region distinction in the 5,000 meters.

Hunt (Hudsonville, Michigan / Hudsonville) is all-region in the discus.

Kretchmar, a mechanical engineering major from Granville, Ohio (Granville), ran to all-region recognition in the 1,500 and 5,000 meters.

Kunzler, an exercise science major from Marne, Michigan (Grand Rapids Catholic Central), earned all-region accolades in the 800 meters and 4x400 relay.


Moore (Battle Creek, Michigan / Lakeview) claimed all-region honors in the 1,500 meters.


Phillips (Dorr, Michigan / Hamilton) and Wenderski, a chemistry major from Livonia, Michigan (Detroit Jesuit), received all-region distinction in the decathlon.


Sanders, a chemical engineering major from Midland, Michigan (H.H. Dow) is all-region in the 4x100 relay.


Streeter (Kalamazoo, Michigan / Kalamazoo Central) ran to all-region recognition in the 100 meters and the 4x100 relay.


Terpstra, a communication major from Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville) earned all-region accolades in the 400 meters, 4x100 relay and 4x400 relay.
