Sofia Fisher Sprints to All-America First Team Honors in the Women's 200-Meter Run

Hope College sprinter Sofia Fisher ran to All-America First Team accolades in the women's 200 meters on Saturday at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

The sophomore from Lombard, Illinois (Montini Catholic), clocked a time of 24.29 seconds to join teammate Sara Schermerhorn on the podium. Schermerhorn finished seventh at 24.24 seconds.

The dual performances marked the first time in program history that the Flying Dutch have had two All-Americans in the same event at the national meet

Head coach Jordan Bartolazzi expressed immense pride in Fisher's meteoric rise on the track.

"Sofia's outdoor season has been a series of breakthroughs over and over," Bartolazzi said. "She never would have believed an All-American finish was realistic when the school year began. I'm so proud of her work ethic and growth over the last year that led to this finish. In the end, she took more than a full second off her 200m PR in one season, culminating in her first career All-American honor."
