National Champion Sara Schermerhorn Chosen as College Sports Communicators First Team Academic All-American

The recent graduate is an Academic All-American for the second time

National champion sprinter Sara Schermerhorn of Hope College has been voted to the 2025-26 Academic All-America® women's track and field/cross country teams, selected by College Sports Communicators.

The recent graduate is one of 15 first-team selections from Division III and 45 overall honorees from the division.

This is Schermerhorn's second CSC Academic All-America accolade; the native of Traverse City, Michigan (Traverse City West High School), was a third-team recipient in 2025.

Schermerhorn, who majored in exercise science, excelled during the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons.

Schermerhorn became Hope's first multi-national champion in track and field, sweeping the 400-meter indoor and outdoor titles at the NCAA Division III Championships in March and May. She also claimed All-America First Team accolades in the indoor and outdoor 200 meters with eighth- and seventh-place efforts, respectively.

Schermerhorn was selected as the MIAA's Most Valuable Indoor Track Athlete for the third time and to the All-MIAA Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Teams for the fourth time in both sports.

As a senior, Schermerhorn raced to MIAA titles in the indoor and outdoor 400 meters and 4x400-meter relays. She also claimed four silver medals and one bronze medal during the MIAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships.
