Men’s Golf Places Third in MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll

The Hope College men's golf team finished third in the 2026-27 MIAA Men's Golf Preseason Coaches Poll, totaling 37 points in the eight-team ranking.

Led by first-year head coach Caleb Nykamp '12, the Flying Dutch aim to improve after recording a third-place finish last season with a team scoring average of 297.50.

Junior Will Thomas of Portage, Michigan (Portage Central) leads the group of returning golfers after becoming a two-time All-MIAA honoree last season with a 75.17 average.

Junior Joey Blondia of Richland, Michigan (Gull Lake) and sophomore Eli Voisard of Tipp City, Ohio (Tippecanoe) also return.

The preseason poll featured Trine University in first place with 46 points and five first-place votes, Calvin University in second place with 45 points and three first-place votes, Hope, Adrian College (28), Albion College (26), Kalamazoo College (21), Alma College (13), and The University of Olivet (8).

Hope tees off the season on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at a 36-hole, one-day tournament at Aurora University.

The Flying Dutch will host the third of four fall MIAA Jamborees on Monday, Oct. 19, at Wuskowhan Players Club in West Olive.
