The Hope men's cross country team placed second at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships it hosted on Saturday at West Ottawa Golf Club.
The Flying Dutchmen finished with 59 points to edge third-place Albion by two points. Calvin won the eight-team meet with 28 points.
Junior Ben Zank of Midland (H.H. Dow) topped Hope with a sixth-place, 8K run of 25 minutes, 57 seconds.
Senior Samuel Pederson of Mt. Prospect, Ill. (Prospect HS) took eighth for the Flying Dutchmen in 25:58.
Both Zank and Pederson earned All-MIAA First Team Honors.
Sophomore Joseph Beemer of St. Joseph (St. Joseph HS) recorded an 12th-place time of 26:07 for Hope.
Senior James Rogers of Saginaw (Valley Lutheran HS) finished 19th for the Flying Dutchmen in 26:22.
Both Beemer and Rogers made the All-MIAA Second Team.
Junior Zach Zandbergen of Grandville (Grandville HS) rounded out Hope's scoring with a 25th-place effort of 26:31.
