Men's Cross Country Garners Record Seven All-Region Honorees

The Hope College men's cross-country team recorded its largest group of United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association all-region honorees with seven selections.

Seniors Carston Cole, Lucas Guidone and Jonathan Harlow; sophomores Logan Begeman, Elias Kretchmar and Cooper Jacobsen; and freshman Aiden Moore represented the nationally-ranked Flying Dutchmen after clocking top-35 finishes during the Nov. 15 regional meet in Louisville, Kentucky.

MIAA champion Hope captured the program's second regional title — and first since 1980 — while qualifying for this weekend's NCAA Division III National Championships.

The seven Flying Dutchmen all claimed all-region accolades for the first time.

Begeman (Portage, Michigan / Portage Central) led a trio of top-10 Flying Dutchmen. The MIAA MVP and mechanical engineering major recorded an eighth-place regional time of 25 minutes, 12.83 seconds on an 8K course.

Kretchmar, a mechanical engineering major from Granville, Ohio (Granville), followed in ninth at 25:15.43.

Cole, an exercise science major from Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa), crossed next, placing 10th in 25:20.77.

Moore (Battle Creek, Michigan / Lakeview) clocked a 12th-place time of 25:25.70.

Harlow, a mechanical engineering major from Holland, Michigan (Home School), took 14th in 25:26.68.

Guidone, a biochemistry and molecular biology major from Chicago, Illinois (Taft), finished 15th at 25:27.02.

Jacobsen , an exercise science major from Grand Rapids, Michigan (Forest Hills Eastern) placed 18th in 25:36.19.
