Five Hope volleyball players have earned All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) recognition for the 2013 season.
Three members of the MIAA co-champion Flying Dutch made the first team — senior middle hitter Courtney Earles of Kentwood (East Kentwood HS), junior outside hitter Jenna Grasmeyer of Jenison (Hudsonville Unity Christian HS) and sophomore setter Lauren Hazekamp of Fruitport (Fruitport HS).
Two of their teammates claimed second-team honors — senior middle hitter Mari Schoolmaster of Portage (Portage Central HS) and junior outside hitter Amy VanderStoep of Holland (West Ottawa HS).
Grasmeyer, pictured at right, averaged 4.06 kills per set and recorded a .324 kill percentage during MIAA matches for the co-MIAA champions.
Earles recorded 32 blocks and averaged 2.39 kills per set in league matches.
Hazekamp directed Hope's offense with a 10.68 assists per set in MIAA games.
Schoolmaster topped the Flying Dutch with 35 blocks in league matches. She also averaged 2.09 kills per set.
VanderStoep netted 2.24 kills per set and had a .307 kill percentage during MIAA play.
