In 2012, the Hope men's soccer team posted its 14th consecutive winning season with a 12-8 overall record.
Two members of the Flying Dutch made the NCAA Division III All-Central Region team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Junior forward Grant Neil of Holland (West Ottawa HS) landed on the second team, while junior midfielder Jason Muller of Petoskey (Petoskey HS) was a third-team pick The All-Region honorees were chosen from NCAA Division III programs in Illinois, Michigan, Missouri and Wisconsin.
Both Neil and Muller also were First Team Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) honorees. Muller led the Flying Dutchmen in scoring with 10 goals, including five game-winners, and was credited with four assists. Neil, behind a strong throw-in ability, was credited with eight assists off those throw-ins. He also scored two goals. Neil's older brother, Logan, was a two-time All-Region honoree (2010 and 2011).
Senior Luke Dishnow of Saline made the All-MIAA Second Team. Dishnow also honored as the co-recipient with Dane Macdonell of Kalamazoo of the league's Dr. Marv Zuidema award. The award honors a senior athlete for contribution to team play, leadership qualities, demonstration of ethical virtues and excellence in athletics and academics.
The Flying Dutchmen finished with a 9-5 league record, good for third place. They qualified for the MIAA Tournament but lost in the semifinals.
