Hope Men's Cross Country Wins Vanderbilt Invitational

Senior Samuel Pederson of Mt. Prospect, Ill. (Prospect HS) and the Hope College men's cross country team won the 48th annual Vanderbilt Invitational on Saturday at Ridge Point Church.

The Flying Dutchmen totaled 30 points to finish ahead of Albion College (40) and Muskegon Community College (62).

It is the second consecutive Vanderbilt title for Hope and 16th overall since the event began in 1966. 

Pederson led the Flying Dutchmen with a fifth-place run of 26 minutes, 56 seconds.

Hope also received points from junior Ban Zank of Midland (H.H. Dow HS) in sixth at 27:00, senior James Rogers of Saginaw (Valley Lutheran HS) in seventh at 27:04, sophomore Joseph Beemer of St. Joseph (St. Joseph HS) in 10th at 27:19 and freshman Tyler Brinks of Commerce Township (Walled Lake Northern HS) in 11th at 27:20.
