All five Hope College men's golfers finished within three strokes of each other, but the Flying Dutchmen finished fourth at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree hosted by Adrian College on Friday.
The Flying Dutchmen shot a team score of 308 at Lenawee Country Club, trailing first-place Calvin by 10 strokes, runner-up Adrian by seven and third-place Trine by five. It was the second league jamboree of the season.
Junior Ben Lanting of Littleton, Colo. (Front Range Christian HS), fired a 5-over-par 76 to lead for Hope. He finished tied for 12th.
Other scores for the Flying Dutchmen came from junior Collin Breit of Muskegon (Western Michigan Christian HS) 77 for 18th, junior Evan Telzerow of Grand Rapids (Forest Hills Northern HS) 77 for 18th, freshman Winton Munch of Traverse City (Traverse City Central) 78 for 25th and junior Ben Lewis of Grand Haven (Grand Haven) 79 for 29th.
Adrian took the overall lead. Hope slipped to fourth place from first, but only trails Adrian by four strokes.
