The Hope men's cross country team took seventh at the 27-team Calvin College Invitational on Saturday in Grand Rapids.
Senior Sam Pederson of Mt. Prospect, Ill. (Prospect HS) topped the Flying Dutchmen with a 14th-place time of 25 minutes, 32.4 seconds on the 8K course at Calvin.
Hope finished with 196 points. St. Francis (Ill.) won with 42.
The Flying Dutchmen also received points from junior Ben Zank of Midland (H.H. Down HS) in 41st at 25:59.3, senior James Rogers of Saginaw (Valley Lutheran HS) in 57th at 26:17.8, junior Zach Zandbergen of Grandville (Grandville HS) in 69th at 26.27.2 and sophomore Joseph Beemer of St. Joseph (St. Joseph) HS in 72nd at 26.29.3.
Also competing for Hope were sophomore Kyle Anderson of Shorewood, Minn. (Minnetonka HS) in 74th at 26.32.6 and freshman Tyler Brinks of Commerce Township (Walled Lake Northern HS) in 85th at 26:42.3.
