Hope Men's Golf Fourth At MIAA Jamboree, Still Tied For First Overall

The Hope men's golf team is tied for first place with three Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) 18-hole jamborees remaining.

The Flying Dutchmen are square with Calvin College with a 307.6 jamboree average after tying for fourth place during Monday's event at Kalamazoo Country Club.

Hope shot a team score of 312 to finish behind Trine (301), Calvin (307) and Adrian (310). Host Kalamazoo also finished the day 312.

Hope and Calvin lead third-place Adrian by 10 strokes and fourth-place Trine by 13.

Junior Ben Lewis, at right, of Grand Haven (Grand Haven HS) and freshman Winton Munch of Traverse City (Traverse City Central HS) topped Hope with 6-over-par 77s. They placed in a tie for 10th with four other golfers.

The Flying Dutchmen also received scoring rounds of 79 from junior Evan Telzerow of Grand Rapids (Forest Hills Northern HS) and junior Ben Lanting of Littleton, Colo. (Front Range Christian HS).

The next MIAA Jamboree is Saturday at Trine's Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind.
