Hope Freshman Golfer Posts 3-Under-Par 68 To Win MIAA Jamboree

Hope College golfer Winton Munch, pictured at right, carded a 3-over-par 68 to claim medalist honors at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree on Saturday in Angola, Ind.

The Flying Dutchmen posted a team score of 294 at Zollner Golf Course to place third. They finished six strokes behind Calvin and Trine. Calvin moved six strokes ahead of second-place Hope in the overall standings.

Munch, a freshman from Traverse City (Traverse City Central HS) recorded four birdies, 13 pars and one bogey. 

Hope also received a 74 from junior Ben Lewis of Grand Haven (Grand Haven HS) for a 14th-place tie and a 75 from Evan Telzerow of Grand Rapids (Forest Hills Northern HS) for a 16th-place tie. Junior Collin Breit of Muskegon (Western Michigan Christian HS) chipped in the last scoring round for the Flying Dutchmen of 77.

There are two MIAA Jamboree remaining, in the Thursday, Oct. 3 Jamboree Hope is hosting at Wuskowhan Players Club.
