Hope Men's Golf Wins First MIAA Jamboree Of Season

 

The Hope College men's golf team took early control of the league race Thursday at the first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree of the season.

The Flying Dutchmen shot a team score of 317 at The Medalist Golf Course in Marshall to win the league jamboree by three strokes. Adrian College finished second with a score of 320. Eighteen strokes separated all eight teams.

Junior Collin Breit of Muskegon (Western Michigan Christian HS) shot a 4-over-par 76 to lead Hope. He tied for fifth place.

Junior Evan Telzerow of Grand Rapids (Forest Hills Northern HS) and junior Ben Lanting of Littleton, Colo., (Front Ridge Christian HS) both chipped in 79s for the Flying Dutchmen. They tied for 13th place.

Hope's final scoring round came from junior Ben Lewis of Grand Haven (Grand Haven HS). He had an 83 to tie for 20th place.

Trine University (321) took third. The Thunder were followed by jamboree host Albion College (322), Calvin College (324), Kalamazoo College (325), Alma College (327) and Olivet College (331).
