The Hope women's swimming & diving team finished first in two events and took second place at the Wheaton (Ill.) quad meet on Saturday.
The Flying Dutch totaled 474 points. Wheaton won with 571 points, while Kalamazoo (453) took third and Lake Forest (256) was fourth.
Freshman Molly Meyer of South Bend, Ind. (John Adams HS) clocked the top time in the 200-yard backstroke of 2:12.76. She led a 1-2-3 finish for the Flying Dutch — sophomore Hannah Larson of Jackson (Jackson HS) second in 2:15.19 and senior Maria Kieft of Spring Lake (Spring Lake HS) in third at 2:16.26.
Sophomore Jorgie Watson of Grand Rapids (Catholic Central HS) won the 200 breaststroke in 2:29.64.
Sophomore Klare Northuis of Holland (Holland HS) came in second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.29 seconds and in the 100 freestyle with a time of 55.40
Sophomore Lindsey Wiederhold of Plainwell (Plainwell HS) finished runner-up in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:18.46.
The Flying Dutch also won the 400 freestyle relay in 3:40.79 (Meyer, Northuis, junior Luisa Burgess of Pittsburgh, Pa. (Taylor Allderice HS) and freshman Mikalya Freyling of Alto (Grand Rapids South Christian HS).
Flying Dutch Diver Wins At Calvin
Diver Sarah Sheridan took first place in two events during a meet at Calvin on Saturday.
The sophomore from Richmond, Ind. (Richmond HS), won the 1-meter event with a score of 397.55 points and the 3-meter board with a score of 462.10 points.
Junior Erica Dunham of Rockford (Rockford HS), came in fourth for Hope on 1-meter with 385.35 points and the 3-meter with a total of 391.95 points.
