The Hope men's and women's track & field open the 2014
season today in Allendale.
Coach Kevin Cole's Flying Dutchmen and Flying Dutch are
competing at Grand Valley State University's Mike Lints Indoor
Invitational.
The 17-team event will draw more than 1,000 athletes. Other
teams in the field are Aquinas, Bethel (Ind.), Calvin, Davenport,
DePaul, Ferris State, Hope, Indiana Tech, Marian (Ind.), Northwood,
Olivet Nazarene, Spring Arbor, St. Francis (Ill.), Trinity
Christian, Valparaiso and Windsor (Ont.).

This is Cole's ninth season as head coach.
Co-captains for the Flying Dutch are seniors Catherine
Calyore of Naples, Fla. (Barron Collier HS), Sheri
McCormack of Holland (West Ottawa HS, Caitlin
Schwark of Wheaton, Ill. (Wheaton-Warrenville HS), and Catherine
White of Barre, Vt. (Spaulding HS).
McCormack is back after finishing 14th at the NCAA Division
III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She is a two-time,
All-MIAA performer in track & field who is the reigning league
champion in the 800- and 1,500-meter runs. McCormack owns the
school record for the 1,500 with a time of 4:32.14.
White also is a returning All-MIAA honoree for the Flying Dutch.
She helped the Flying Dutch claim the MIAA title in the 4 by 100
relay last season.
Co-captains for the Flying Dutchmen are seniors David
Dolfin of Hingham, Wis. (Oostburg HS), Keenan
Erickson of Farmington Hills (Farmington HS) and James
Rogers of Saginaw (Valley Lutheran HS).
Hope will compete in three indoors meets this winter, including
the MIAA Indoor Invitational on March 1 at Calvin.
The outdoor season begins on March 14-15 at the Rhodes Open in
Memphis, Tenn.
Hope does not have a home meet this season. Hope will travel to
Calvin on April 4 for a rare dual meet between the two rivals. The
results do not factor into the MIAA championship.
The MIAA Championships are May 1-2 at Alma College.
The NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships
are May 22-24 in Delaware, Ohio.
