Hope Women's Swimming & Diving Win One Event At MIAA Relays

The Hope College women's swimming & diving team took first in one event at the season-opening Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Relays on Saturday at Holland Community Aquatic Center.

It was a non-scoring meet.

The Flying Dutch won the 1,500-yard freestyle relay.

Sophomore Payton Hoff of Clarkston, Michigan (Pontiac Notre Dame HS), junior Lindsay Wiederhold of Plainwell, Michigan (Plainwell HS), and freshman Chloe Palajac of Dearborn, Michigan (Dearborn HS), teamed for a time of 16 minutes, 39.90 seconds.

Hope was runner-up in the 200 medley relay.

Junior Michelle Hance of Noblesville, Indiana (Noblesville HS), junior Jorgie Watson of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Catholic Central HS), Palajac and sophomore Mikayla Freyling of Alto, Michigan (Grand Rapids South Christian HS), went 1:53.37.

The Flying Dutch were third in the 200 freestyle relay. Freshman Rachael Barsccz of Canton, Michigan (Plymouth Canton HS), Watson, senior Luisa Burgess of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (Taylor Alderice HS), and Palajac finished in 1:43.88. 

Hope returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 25, when the Flying Dutch host Alma at Kresge Natatorium. Start time is 1 p.m.
