Molly Meyer's runner-up performance in the backstroke topped the Hope College women's swimming & diving team during the second and final day of the five-team Wheaton (Illinois) Invitational on Saturday.
The sophomore from South Bend, Indiana (John Adams HS), recorded a second-place time in the 100-yard backstroke of 58.82 seconds. Teammate Klare Northuis, a junior from Holland, Michigan (Holland HS), came in sixth at 1:01.00.
The Flying Dutch finished fifth with 397 points. They trailed Washington University in St. Louis (1,135.5), Wheaton (683), Wisconsin-Whitewater (666.5) and Wisconsin-Stevens Point (456.5).
Junior Lindsay Wiederhold of Plainwell, Michigan (Plainwell HS), took third in the 1,650 freestyle at 17:52.8
In the 400 individual medley, freshman Chloe Palajac of Dearborn, Michigan (Dearborn HS), placed fourth in 4:37.78. Wiederhold was seventh in 4:48.39.
Junior Jorgie Watson of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Catholic Central HS), took seventh in the 200 breaststroke at 2:28.56.
