The Hope College softball team played two one-run games on Monday, edging Anderson (Ind.) 4-3 and losing to Otterbein (Ohio) 1-0 in Clermont, Fla.
The Flying Dutch are now 2-2 on the season.
Junior third baseman Kelsey Cooper of Romeo (Romeo HS) drew a one-out walk with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh to plate junior second baseman Jenna Maury of Lawton (Lawton HS) with the winning run.
Hope scored the game's final four runs, getting a RBI single from freshman leftfielder Taylor Krumm of Commerce Township (Walled Lake Central HS in the second inning, a solo homer from Maury in the third and a RBI single from freshman shortstop Katrina Ellis of Goodrich (Goodrich HS) in the sixth.
Winning pitcher Natalie Hiser of Westland (Livonia Churchill HS) gave up all three runs in the first inning. She struck out seven, walked four and allowed six hits.
Against Otterbein, Krumm's two hits led Hope's six-hit attack.
Losing pitcher Kate Laverty of Eaton Rapids (Eaton Rapids HS) scattered six hits over six innings. She struck out four and walked three.
Otterbein's lone run came on a first-inning steal of home.
Hope returns to action on Tuesday, March 18, with single games against Fontbonne (Mo.) at 9 a.m. and Bethel (Minn.) at 11 a.m.
