Softball Places Two on NFCA All-Region Teams

Hope College third baseman Terin Maynard and pitcher Hailey Mellec claimed all-region accolades from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for their performances during the 2026 season.

Maynard, who played third base, is a second-team selection. Mellec, who pitched, is a third-team honoree. 

The teammates helped the Flying Dutch to a 28-win season.

Maynard led Hope in several categories, including batting average at .457 and runs scored with 42. The junior from Grand Rapids, Michigan (Jenison), recorded 43 hits with three home runs, five triples, and five doubles.

An exercise science major, Maynard also stole 15 bases and posted a .968 field percentage with 26 putouts and 34 assists.

Mellec recorded double-digit wins in the circle, totaling a career-best 12 this season. The junior left-hander from Commerce Township, Michigan (Walled Lake Northern) logged a career-high 109.1 innings.

A business major, Mellec struck out a career-high 142, including a career-best 19 against Gustavus Adolphus on April 3 in Eau Claire, Wis.
