Flying Dutchmen Top CalvIn For First At MIAA Track & Field Jamboree

The Hope College men's track & field claimed top team honors at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree on Saturday at Alma College.

The Flying Dutchmen totaled 838.5 points to finish ahead of runner-up Calvin College (820) and third-place Albion College (736.5).

Senior James Rogers of Saginaw (Valley Lutheran HS) won the 1,500 meters in 3 minutes, 56.91 seconds.

Junior Tim Simon of Richland (Gull Lake HS) took first in the 800 meters with a time of 1:58.96. He led a 1-2-3 Hope finish that also included freshman Cameron Jones of Holland (Black River HS) and Noah Litwiller of Delavan, Ill. (Olympia HS) in second and third, respectively.

Senior David Dolfin of Hingham, Wis. (Oostburg HS), posted the top performance in the triple jump by leaping 42 feet, 0-3/4 inches. Dolfin was followed by teammate and runner-up Steffon Mayhue of Holland (Holland HS), who ame in at 12.75 meters.

The MIAA Jamboree does not factor into the overall standings.
