Hope College softball player Peyton Wells has been selected Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Position Player of the Week for games played through April 27.
The junior first baseman from Rockford, Michigan (Rockford HS), batted .556 (10-for-18) with two home runs and three doubles. Wells also collected five runs scored, 10 RBIs and a slugging percentage of 1.056 as she led the Flying Dutch to a 6-0 record for week that included four MIAA wins.
In league play, Wells homered and drove in two runs as Hope rallied for a 7-5 MIAA victory over Adrian on Wednesday to complete a doubleheader sweep. On Saturday, she went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs in a 6-2 win over Calvin in the first game of a doubleheader.
Wells handled 54 chances in the field for the week without an error as the Flying Dutch secured the No. 2 seed for the MIAA Tournament.
Wells is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
