Box Score The Hope College women's tennis team pushed a second nationally ranked team to the limit before dropping a 5-4 decision on Saturday at the Midwest Invitational.
The Flying Dutch lost to 22nd-ranked Denison 5-4 in Madison, Wis., in a match that featured four singles flights decided in three sets.
Hope finished the two-day tournament with a 1-2 record. The Flying Dutch (7-4 overall) beat St. Catherine (Minn.) 9-0 but lost to 12th-ranked Chicago 5-4.
Sophomore Claire Cooper of Williamston (Williamston) at No. 2 singles and freshman Paige Courts of Caledonia (Grand Rapids South Christian HS) at No. 4 singles both won three-set matches for the Flying Dutch.
