Senior Steffon Mayhue of Holland, Michigan (Holland HS), repeated as MIAA long jump champion on Thursday during the opening day of the league's Field Day at Alma College.
Mayhue recorded a leap of 23 feet, 2 inches. Teammate David Dolfin of Hingham, Wisconsin (Oostburg HS), came in eighth at 19-9 ½.
The Flying Dutchmen have a second-place total of 31 points. The two-day meet concludes on Friday.
Senior Samuel Pederson of Mt. Prospect, Illinois (Prospect HS), came in third in the 10,000 meters by running a time of 32 minutes, 3.73 seconds.
Senior Matthew Johnson of White Lake, Michigan (Orchard Lake St. Mary's Prep), took fifth in the javelin with a toss of 150 feet, 7 inches. Junior Jacob Everly of Woodstock, Illinois (Marian Catholic Central HS), was sixth at 149-3.
Senior Keenan Erickson of Farmington Hills, Michigan (Farmington HS), placed sixth in the shot put. He had a heave of 41-7. Teammate Evan Finch of Ann Arbor (Pioneer HS) was seventh at 41-6 ½.
Sophomore David Lunderberg of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville HS), finished seventh in pole vault by clearing 11-9 ¾.
Calvin leads the team standings with 83 points.
