The Hope College men's cross country team finished runner-up at its 49th annual Vanderbilt Invitational on Saturday at Ridge Point Community Church.
The Flying Dutchmen totaled a score of 42 points behind top-10 performances from three runners in the four-team event Adrian College won with 30 points.
Senior Ben Zank of Midland, Michigan (H.H. Dow HS) clocked Hope's fastest time with an 8K run of 26 minutes, 37 seconds. He finished third overall out of 51 runners.
Junior Joseph Beemer of St. Joseph, Michigan (St. Joseph HS), placed fourth with a time of 27:14.
Freshman Ben Pederson of Mount Prospect, Illinois (Prospect HS) came in eighth at 27:36.
Sophomore Cameron Jones of Holland, Michigan (Black River HS) took 13th at 28:06.
Junior Noah Litwiller of Delavan, Illinois (Olympia HS) rounded out Hope's scoring by posting a 14th-place time of 28:07.
Cornerstone (63) took third, while Muskegon Community College (107) was fourth.
