Senior Ben Zank and junior Michelle Kerr led the Hope College men's and women's cross country teams at the Michigan State Invitational on Friday in East Lansing, Michigan.
It was a nonscoring meet.
Zank, of Midland, Michigan (H.H. Dow HS), finished 37th out of 371 runners by clocking an 8K time of 25 minutes, 32 seconds.
Kerr, of Dearborn, Michigan (Divine Child HS), placed 55th out of 307 runners with a 6K time of 23.10.
The meet featured runners from competitors from NCAA Division I, II and III and NAIA schools.
Other top finishers for the Flying Dutchmen were: senior Zach Zandbergen of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville HS) in 113th at 26:44, junior Joseph Beemer of St. Joseph, Michigan (St. Joseph HS) in 120th at 26:49, freshman Ben Pederson of Mount Prospect, Illinois (Prospect HS) in 121st at 26:49, and junior Noah Litwiller of Delavan, Illinois (Olympia HS) in 176th at 27:38.
Other top performers for the Flying Dutch were: junior Julia Stock of Spring Lake, Michigan (Grand Haven HS), in 58th at 23:12, junior Emily Joosse of Chillicothe, Ohio (Zane Trace HS) in 84th at 23:42, senior Katie Afton of Portage, Michigan (Portage Central HS) in 95th at 23:56, and senior Emily Wrozek of Clarklake, Michigan (Hanover-Horton HS) in 107th at 24:15.
