Two Hope College women's soccer players are receiving recognition from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association: senior Erin Jipping and sophomore Jennifer Thelen.
Jipping is the MIAA Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sept. 14, while Thelen is the MIAA Defensive Player of the Week.
Jipping scored a goal in each game as the Flying Dutch opened MIAA play with three consecutive victories: defeating Albion 2-0, Adrian in overtime 2-1 and Trine 3-0.
The midfielder from Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS), is being honored as MIAA Player of the Week for the first time this season and the second time in her career.
Thelen anchored a Hope defense that allowed only one goal in three games and gave up an average of five shots per game.
The center back from Bloomfield Hills (Andover HS), is being honored as MIAA Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
Hope is now 4-2 overall on the season. The Flying Dutch return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 16, with a match at Olivet. Kickoff is 4 p.m.
