Hope College junior Ethan Beswick has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games through September 21.

The goalie from Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven HS), recorded back-to-back shutouts as the seventh-ranked Flying Dutchmen opened MIAA play with two victories last week.

Beswick made two saves in a 1-0 overtime win at Trine on Wednesday, Sept. 17, then three saves in a 1-0 victory over Adrian on Saturday, Sept. 20.

Beswick is being honored as MIAA Player of the Week for the second time this season and the third time in his career.

Hope returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Calvin. Kickoff is 4:30 p.m.
