Senior Ben Lewis of Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven HS), shot a 1-over-par 73 to lead the Hope College men's golf team to victory on Saturday at the first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree of the season.
Lewis tied for second place after his round at Pine River Country Club in Alma.
The Flying Dutchmen posted a team score of 299 to begin their bid to repeat as MIAA champions. They finished one stroke ahead of runner-up Trine.
Senior Collin Breit of Muskegon, Michigan (Western Michigan Christian HS) and sophomore Winton Munch of Traverse City, Michigan (Traverse City Central HS), both carded 75s. They tied for seventh place.
Seniors Evan Telzerow of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Forest Hills Northern HS) and Ben Lanting of Littleton, Colorado (Front Range Christian HS), each had 76s for 12th place.
Hope also finished seven strokes ahead of third-place Adrian and Calvin.
The Flying Dutchmen's next MIAA Jamboree is Saturday, Sept. 13, and hosted by Adrian College.
