Hope College junior Ethan Beswick has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played through Sept. 7.
The goalie from Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven HS), allowed only one goal and made 17 saves in leading the Flying Dutchmen to a pair of nonconference road victories over the weekend.
Beswick made 11 saves in a 1-0 victory at 10th-ranked Wheaton (Illinois), on Saturday, Sept. 6, and six saves as No. 25 Hope handled Elmhurst (Illinois) its first loss of the season 2-1 on Friday, Sept. 5.
It is the first time Beswick has been named Player of the Week this season and the second time in his career.
Hope returns to action on Thursday, Sept. 11, when it hosts Grace Bible College at 5 p.m. in nonleague action at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
