Hope College junior Lauren Hazekamp has been chosen the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Volleyball Specialty Player of the Week for games played through Sept. 7.
The setter from Fruitport, Michigan (Fruitport HS), dished out 106 assists (11.8 per set) and added 13 kills and 22 digs for the week as the third-ranked Flying Dutch won all three of their matches.
With Hazekamp setting the table for Hope's attackers, the Flying Dutch had a team hitting percentage of .368 during MIAA wins over Adrian and Alma. Hope also beat Chicago.
Hazekamp is being honored as MIAA Player of the Week for the first time this season and the second time in her career.
Hope returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 10, when it hosts Olivet College on the DeVos Fieldhouse Volleyball Court. The MIAA match begins at 6:30 p.m.
