The Hope College women's swimming & diving team came in second place at the Wheaton (Illinois) College Quad on Saturday.

The Flying Dutch totaled 550 points and finished 31 behind Wheaton. Kalamazoo finished third with 505.5 points, while Lake Forest (Illinois), was fourth with 436 points.

Hope took first place in four events.

Junior Sarah Sheridan of Richmond, Indiana (Richmond HS), swept 1- and 3-meter diving. Sheridan totaled 291.15 points in 3-meter diving and 276.20 points in 1-meter diving.

Senior Erica Dunham of Rockford, Michigan (Rockford HS), tied for third in 1-meter diving with a score of 240.10 points.

Junior Lindsay Wiederhold of Plainwell, Michigan (Plainwell HS), won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10 minutes, 54.27 seconds. Wiederhold, pictured, also clocked the second-fastest time in the 500 freestyle of 5:19.06.

Sophomore Molly Meyer of South Bend, Indiana (John Adams HS), posted the top effort in the 200 backstroke with a swim of 2:12.89.

Freshman Chloe Palajac of Dearborn, Michigan (Dearborn HS), finished third in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:14.22.

The Flying Dutch took third in two relays.

The 400 medley relay of junior Klare Northuis of Holland, Michigan (Holland HS), junior Jorgie Watson of Grand rapids, Michigan (Catholic Central HS), Palajac and senior Emily Weber of Milan, Michigan (Milan HS), posted a time of 4:06.65.

The 400 freestyle relay of Meyer, freshman Amy Larsen of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Forest Hills Northern HS), Weber and Northuis had a swim of 3:44.68.

Hope returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 24, when the Flying Dutch travel to Calvin for a 1 p.m. dual meet.
