The Hope College men's cross country team finished 20th at the 47-team Wisconsin-Oshkosh AAE Invitational on Saturday in Winneconne, Wisconsin.
Senior Ben Zank of Midland, Michigan (H.H. Dow HS), placed 62nd out of 419 runners with an 8K time of 25 minutes, 37 seconds. The Flying Dutchmen finished with 554 points.
The Lake Breeze Golf Course is where the NCAA Division III Championships will be held next month.
"Great racing today," Hope coach Mark Northuis said. "We had some very strong performances vs. some of the top Division III teams in the nation."
Hope's next three runners placed within five spots and four seconds of each other.
Junior Julian Morrison of Aurora, Illinois (Waubonsie Valley HS), took 113th at 26:06.
Senior Joseph Beemer of St. Joseph, Michigan (St. Joseph HS), and junior Tyler Brinks of Commerce Township, Michigan (Walled Lake Northern HS), both clocked 26:10 for 116th and 118th place, respectively.
Sophomore Ben Pederson of Mount Prospect, Illinois (Prospect HS), rounded out the Flying Dutchmen's scoring in 145th at 26:23.
Senior Kyle Anderson of Shorewood, Minnesota (Minnetonka HS), came in 173rd at 26:32.
Senior Matt Rolain of Rochester, Michigan (Stoney Creek HS), was 190th at 26:39.
Hope also competed in a second division at the meet and placed 15th with 447 points.
Freshman Nathan Schloff of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS), led the Flying Dutchmen in 81st place at 27:33.
Other finishers were: freshman Andrew Kalthoff of Carmel, Indiana (Carmel HS), in 86th at 27:39, freshman Collin Thomas of Novi, Michigan (Novi HS), in 87th at 27:40, freshman Zach Terpstra of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grand Rapids Christian HS), in 93rd at 27:43, freshman Ryan Holman of Holmen, Wisconsin (Holmen HS), in 100th at 27:52, and freshman Ian Demrose of Macomb, Michigan (Dakota HS), in 120th at 28:28.
Hope returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 31 at the MIAA Championships hosted by Olivet College.
