The Hope College men's cross country team put three runners in the top 100 to finish 14th in the Blue Division at the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday in Louisville, Kentucky.
Hope coach Mark Northuis said the Flying Dutchmen had a very strong performance.
"A 35-second gap for runners one through five is tough," Northuis said. "Our team time was only 8 seconds behind Wabash, the top team in our region. We performed well against some of the top Division II and NAIA teams in the nation."
Senior Ben Zank of Midland, Michigan (H.H. Dow HS), led the Flying Dutchmen with a 53rd-place, 8K run of 25 minutes, 49.14 seconds. There were 286 runners in the field.
Junior Tyler Brinks of Commerce Township, Michigan (Walled Lake Northern HS), placed 87th with a time of 26:22.81.
Senior Joseph Beemer of St. Joseph, Michigan (St. Joseph HS), came in 89th at 26:33.52.
Junior Julian Morrison of Aurora, Illinois (Waubonsie Valley HS), took 105th at 26:36.29.
Sophomore Ben Pederson of Mount Prospect, Illinois (Mount Prospect HS), rounded out Hope's scoring in 106th at 26:37.77.
Senior Matt Rolain of Rochester, Michigan (Stoney Creek HS), came in 128th at 26:45.0.
Junior Nicholas Salomon of Troy, Michigan (Detroit Jesuit HS), finished 151st at 26:59.72.
