Golfers Kade Hoeksema, Winton Munch Named To All-MIAA First Team

Winton Munch and Kade Hoeksema of the 2015 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association champion Hope College men's golf team earned All-MIAA First Team honors as well.

Munch and Hoeksema were among six first-team recipients announced after Monday's league jamboree hosted by Hope at Wuskowhan Players Club. They helped the Flying Dutchmen claim their third consecutive MIAA title and 19th in team history.

Munch joined a group of five other Hope golfers to receive All-MIAA First Team honors for at least three times during their careers.

The junior from Traverse City, Michigan (Traverse Central HS), follows Nick Campbell (2009-11), Matt Lapham (2004-06), Tommy Yamaoka (2004-07), Eric Wohlfield (1998-2001) and Frank Gaunt (1992-94).

Munch averaged 75.1 strokes per eight league jamborees. It was the fifth-lowest average among MIAA golfers this fall.

Hoeksema finished at 75.4. The sophomore from Byron Center, Michigan (Grand Rapids South Christian) placed sixth among MIAA golfers with his average.

Two other Hope golfers were two of the six All-MIAA Second Team honorees.

Freshman Josh Gibson of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville HS), averaged 76.1 during MIAA play.

Freshman Ben Kramer of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake HS), averaged 76.8.
