Hope Women's Swimmer Places Second In Backstroke At Wheaton Invitational

Molly Meyer placed second in the 200-yard backstroke to lead the Hope College women's swimming & diving team during the opening day of the Wheaton, Illinois Invitational on Friday.

The junior from South Bend, Indiana (John Adams HS) finished as runner-up in the 200 backstroke of 2 minute, 6.95 seconds.

Meyer, pictured, also swam on the third-place 800 freestyle relay and the fourth-place 400 medley relay.

The Flying Dutch are fourth with 279 points. There are two sessions on Saturday: 10 a.m. Central and 5 p.m. Central.

Meyer teamed in the 800 freestyle relay with junior Elizabeth Fris of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS), freshman Sydney Asselin of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian) and sophomore Chloe Palajac of Dearborn, Michigan (Dearborn HS) for a time of 7:52.63.

Meyer led off the 400 medley relay that went 3:49.02 with senior Jorgie Watson of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Catholic Central HS, Palajac and senior Klare Northuis of Holland, Michigan (Holland HS).

Palajac was fourth in the 200 butterfly at 2:09.97.
