Hope College diver Sarah Sheridan broke Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association and school records on the 3-meter board during Thursday's MIAA Swimming & Diving Championships at Holland Community Aquatic Center.
The junior from Richmond, Indiana (Richmond HS), posted a six-dive score of 543.30 points.
Sheridan surpassed the 2009 MIAA record of 491.25 from Calvin's Erica Deur while advancing to tonight's 5:30 p.m. finals. She also beat her school championship-meet record of 490.70 from the 2014 NCAA Division III nationals.

Two teammates will join Sheridan in the finals.
Senior Erica Dunham of Rockford, Michigan (Rockford HS), placed third in preliminaries with a score of 443.65. Junior Stephanie Polet of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville HS), was seventh at 391.90.
Hope also recorded the top preliminary performance in the 400-yard medley relay and will be the top seed for tonight's final.
Junior Klare Northuis of Holland, Michigan (Holland HS), senior Taryn Gras of Zeeland, Michigan (Zeeland East HS), freshman Chloe Palajac of Dearborn, Michigan (Dearborn HS), and senior Luisa Burgess of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (Taylor Allderice HS), won in 4 minutes, 2.62 seconds.
Hope's 200 freestyle relay finish second. Junior Michelle Hance of Noblesville, Indiana (Noblesville HS), junior Hannah Larson of Jackson, Michigan (Jackson HS), sophomore Mikayla Freyling of Alto, Michigan (Grand Rapids South Christian HS), and senior Lauren Girard of Rockford, Michigan (Rockford HS), posted a time of 1:42.30.
The Flying Dutch qualified three for the 500 freestyle championship final: junior Lindsay Wiederhold of Plainwell, Michigan (Plainwell HS), in second at 5:10.26, Palajac in third at 5:12.57 and junior Virginia Cotterall of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake HS), in eighth at 5:26.57.
Two more made the consolation final: Burgess in ninth at 5:22.34 and junior Kaleigh Mullen of Rochester, Michigan (Pontiac Notre Dame Prep), in 11th at 5:23.08.
Junior Jorgie Watson of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Catholic Central HS), placed fourth in the 200 individual medley. She had a time of 2:11.45.
Three reached the consolation final: Larson in ninth at 2:14.97, Hance in 11th at 2:16.16 and freshman Natalie Vela of Clarkston, Michigan (Clarkston HS), in 12th at 2:17.77.
Northuis will compete in the 50 freestyle final after placing seventh in 24.64.
Two teammates made the consolation final: senior Emily Weber of Milan, Michigan (Milan HS), in ninth at 24.86 and freshman Amy Larsen of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Forest Hills Northern HS), in 14th at 25.14.
Hope enters tonight in second place in the overall standings with 34 points. The Flying Dutch trail Calvin by six points.
