The Hope College men's track & field team took third place in two events at the non-scoring Birmingham Southern Invitational on Saturday.
Junior Taylor Myer of Ludington, Michigan (Ludington HS), finished third in the hammer throw with a toss of 122 feet, 6 inches.
Sophomore Nicholas Salomon of Troy, Michigan (Detroit Jesuit HS), came in the third in the 800 meters with a time of 1 minute, 56.55 seconds. Sophomore Cameron Jones of Holland, Michigan (Black River HS), was fifth at 1:57.19.
Senior Zach Zandbergen of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville HS), placed fourth in the 5,000 meters by recording a time of 15:22.65.
Freshman Ben Pederson of Mount Prospect, Illinois (Prospect HS), and junior Joseph Beemer of St. Joseph, Michigan (St. Joseph HS), took fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with runs of 10:14.37 and 10:18.93. Senior Erik Gonzalez of Athens, Michigan (Athens HS), was seventh in 11:11.14.
Senior Jacob Everly of Woodstock, Illinois (Marian Central Catholic HS), posted a fifth-place javelin throw of 149-4.
Freshman Matt Ruff of Wayne, Illinois (Wheaton Academy), came in sixth in the 400 meters at 50.69.
Freshman Jeremy Richards of Fife Lake, Michigan (Forest Area HS), was seventh in the discus with a toss of 121-11.
Hope returns to action at the Emory, Georgia, Invitational on Friday and Saturday, March 20-21.
