Box Score The 22nd-ranked Hope College women's tennis team won its ninth match in a row with a 7-2 decision at 30th-ranked Denison, Ohio, on Friday.
Coach Adam Ford's Flying Dutch improved to 9-1 overall, with all nine wins coming against NCAA Division III opponents.
Hope's No. 1 doubles team of senior Carli Capestany of Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville HS), and sophomore Nancy Benda of Birmingham, Michigan (Seaholm HS), won their first match as the top-ranked pair in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Region. They defeated Denison's Taylor Hawkins and Meg Chiumento 8-4.
Benda, also ranked eighth in the region at No. 1 singles, earned a 7-5, 7-6 (3) win against Hawkins.
The Flying Dutch took five of six singles flights for their ninth consecutive victory.
Hope returns to action on Saturday at 2 p.m. against No. 23 Case Western Reserve, Ohio.
