A sweep of doubles propelled the Hope College women's tennis team to a 6-3 nonleague win at 18th-ranked DePauw, Indiana on Thursday in Greencastle, Indiana.

The Flying Dutch, ranked 33rd in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association NCAA Division III poll, improved their record to 2-1 overall.

Hope started the match by winning all three doubles matches.

The teams of senior Carli Capestany of Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville HS), and sophomore Nancy Benda of Birmingham, Michigan (Seaholm HS), at No. 1 doubles, junior Claire Cooper of Williamston, Michigan (Williamston HS), and sophomore Kelly Daniel of Zeeland, Michigan (Zeeland East HS), at No. 2 doubles and junior Anna Garcia of Battle Creek, Michigan (Lakeview HS), and junior Marie Holaway of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS), at No. 3 doubles all were victorious.

The Flying Dutch claimed singles wins at No. 2 flight with Capestany, No. 3 with Garcia and No. 5 with sophomore Kate Mader of Granger, Indiana (Penn HS).

Hope coach Adam Ford said the win was a great one this early in the season.

"This was only our third match. To have a great result like that, it's phenomenal for the players, phenomenal for the program," Ford said. "The thing I'm most proud of is how they competed at such a high level. Their performance was spectacular."

The Flying Dutch return to action on March 16 with nonleague matches against St. Lawrence and Concordia, Wisconsin in Orlando, Florida.
