The Hope College men's track & field team tied for first place at the Alma Invitational on Saturday, totaling 131 points along with Northwood University.
Junior Boone Marois of Traverse City, Michigan (Central HS), posted a winning 100-meter time of 11.22. Sophomore Matt Pelyhes of Augusta, Michigan (Gull Lake HS), was fourth at 11.76.
Marois finished runner-up in the 200 meters with a time of 22.67.
Senior Ben Zank of Midland, Michigan (H.H. Dow HS), recorded a winning 5,000-meter effort of 15:15.35.
Hope went 2-3 in the 3,000 steeplechase: sophomore Tyler Brinks of Commerce Township, Michigan (Walled Lake Northern HS), at 9:48.75 and junior Joseph Beemer of St. Joseph, Michigan (St. Joseph HS), third at 10:12.48.
Hope was second in the 4x400 relay with sophomore Ryan Arndt of Holland, Michigan (Zeeland West HS), sophomore Nicholas Salomon of Troy, Michigan (Detroit Jesuit), senior Tim Simon of Richland, Michigan (Gull Lake HS), and freshman Matt Ruff of Wayne, Illinois (Wheaton North HS), going 3:29.57.
Sophomore Cameron Jones of Holland, Michigan (Black River HS), placed third in the 800 meters by clocking a time of 1:57.61.
Freshman Jeremy Richards of Fife Lake, Michigan (Forest Area HS), came in third in the 110-meter hurdles with a run of 17.09.
Arndt took third in the javelin with a toss of 39.43 meters.
Freshman Nicholas Brohl of Monclova, Ohio (St. Johns Jesuit HS), was third in the pole vault after clearing 3.7 meters.
Hope returns to action on April 11 at the MIAA Jamboree hosted by Adrian.
