Freshman Kade Hoeksema of Byron Center, Michigan (Grand Rapids South Christian HS), carded an 9-over-par 81 to lead the Hope College men's golf team in a fifth-place finish at the Furniture City Classic on Tuesday at Macatawa Legends Golf Course.
The Flying Dutchmen posted a team score of 337. They trailed Davenport (299), Grand Rapids Community College (314), Cornerstone (326) and Calvin (335).
Senior Graham Vanderheide of Grandville, Michigan (Calvin Christian HS), shot an 82 for Hope.
Junior Paul Bardenhagen of Cedar, Michigan (Leland HS), fired an 84 for the Flying Dutchmen.
Junior Kevin Cross of East Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids HS), chipped in a 90, while sophomore Alec Breit of Muskegon, Michigan (Western Michigan Christian HS), had an 93.
Hope returns to action on Thursday when the Flying Dutchmen play at the Trine Spring Classic in Angola, Indiana.
