The Hope College men's track & field team placed runner-up in five events en route to a third-place finish at the MIAA Field Day on Friday at Albion.
The Flying Dutchmen totaled 136 points during the two-day meet and trailed Calvin (224) and Trine (182.50). Hope came in ahead of Adrian (106), Albion (73), Olivet (43.5) and Alma 96).
Junior Boone Marois of Traverse City, Michigan (Central HS), clocked a runner-up, 100-meter time of 10.92 seconds. Sophomore Matt Pelyhes of Augusta, Michigan (Gull Lake HS), placed sixth at 11.24, while junior Luke Washington of Bolingbrook, Illinois (Timothy Christian HS), was seventh at 11.27.
Senior Ben Zank of Midland, Michigan (H.H Dow HS), placed second in the 1,500 meters at 3:57.95. Junior Andrew Borror of West Lafeyette, Indiana (Harrison HS), was third at 3:38.38.
Zank also finished fourth in the 5,000 meters at 15:34.14. Junior Joseph Beemer of St. Joseph, Michigan (St. Joseph HS), was fifth at 15:35.95.
Sophomore Ross Whitman of Monroe, Michigan (St. Mary Catholic Central HS), took second in the 110 hurdles at 15.27. Freshman Jeremy Richards of Fife Lake, Michigan (Forest Area HS), came in third at 15.71, while sophomore Ryan Arndt of Holland, Michigan (Zeeland West HS), was seventh at 16.21.
Arndt placed second in the 400 hurdles at 57.42. Freshman Robert Schneider of Whitehall, Michigan (Whitehall HS), was fourth at 57.59.
Hope posted a runner-up, 4x100 relay performance of 42.47 seconds.
Sophomore Nicholas Salomon of Troy, Michigan (Detroit Jesuit HS), recorded a third-place, 800-meter performance at 1:54.07. Freshman Brandon Wolliston of Remus, Michigan (Chippewa Hills HS), placed fifth at 1:56.66, while sophomore Cameron Jones of Holland, Michigan (Black River HS), was seventh at 1:59.79.
Sophomore Tyler Brinks of Commerce Township, Michigan (Walled Lake Northern HS), came in fourth in the 3,000 steeplechase at 9:38.92.
The Flying Dutchmen were fifth in the 4x400 relay at 3:32.31.
Freshman Matt Ruff of Wayne, Illinois (Wheaton Academy), finished fifth in the 400 meters at 50.83.
Pelyhes was eighth in the 200 meters at 40.00.
