The 25th-ranked Hope College softball team finished second in the NCAA Division III Lake Forest, Illinois Regional on Saturday after losing 4-1 and 2-0 to the host Foresters.

The Flying Dutch completed the 2015 season with a 29-11 record.

Lake Forest (35-9 overall) claimed a berth in next week's Super Regional by snapping a scoreless tie with two unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Hope misplayed a two-out grounder with the bases loaded off the bat of pitcher Jenny McTague and allowed two runs to score.

In the seventh, the Flying Dutch stranded runners at first and second with two outs to end the game.

Hope outhit Lake Forest 7-4, with sophomore rightfielder Sammi Adams of Griffith, Indiana (Griffith HS), leading with three hits.  Junior centerfielder Autumn Anderson of Dorr, Michigan (Wayland HS), added two hits.

Anderson's .460 batting average for the season is the third-highest in Flying Dutch history. Her 58 hits are the fifth-most in team history.

In Game 1, Lake Forest won after scoring three unearned runs in the top of the seventh following a throwing error.

Hope tied the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth on an one-out RBI groundout from senior first baseman Peyton Wells of Rockford, Michigan (Rockford HS). She knocked in Anderson, who led off with a single, stole second and moved to third on a wild pitch.

Both teams collected five hits. 

Adams, Anderson, Wells and freshman pitcher Sydney Jones of South Lyon, Michigan (South Lyon East HS), were all named to the 10-player all-tournament team.
