The Hope College men's track & field team garnered team and individual recognition on the 2015 United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division III All-Academic Teams.
Coach Kevin Cole's Flying Dutchmen posted a cumulative team GPA of 3.15 to repeat as a USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree. They were among 99 men's teams to claim the award with a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 or higher.
Individually, senior Ben Zank of Midland, Michigan (H.H. Dow HS), was among 297 men's athletes from 106 teams who earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for their combined academic and athletic accomplishments.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met either of the following athletic standards:
- Competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship
- Finished the regular season ranked in the national top 35 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 25 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org
Hope coach Kevin Cole takes great pride in his team's academic achievements.
"Every year that I've been here we've made the Academic All-America teams," Cole said. "I think it's great to continue that tradition and have such great student-athletes on the team."
